Vice Governor Wang Jinfu and Vice Minister Qian Hongshan of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met with a Japanese business delegation led by Ueda Toshihiro, vice-president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in China and chief representative of AGC Group for China on May 29.
Vice Governor Wang highlighted the deep cultural bond between Fujian and Japan, established by the Zen master Yinyuan who founded the Obaku school of Zen in Japan. He expressed Fujian’s willingness to collaborate with Japan to promote exchanges and cooperation in economic, trade, and industrial sectors, particularly in automobile, semiconductor, and chemical products, which are also prioritized industries for development in Fujian. He welcomed Japanese companies to participate in events hosted by Fujian like the Digital China Summit and the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, and called for more investment and visits by Japanese businesses to Fujian.
Vice Minister Qian stated that as China's economy has embarked on a new journey and entered a new era, unprecedented opportunities have arisen for China-Japan exchanges and for Japanese companies. Despite the current difficulties and challenges faced by both countries, he believed that the relationship between China and Japan will continue to grow based on the solid foundation of cooperation built over the past few decades.
Ueda Toshihiro expressed his gratitude for Fujian’s support of Japanese companies, and expressed hope to further deepen friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between Fujian and Japan for greater development.
Present at the meeting also included representatives from 35 Japanese companies, such as Itochu, Mitsui & Co., Sony, Electric Glass, Asahi Kasei, Northeast Ricoh, Maxell, JFE Engineering, Panasonic, and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
