Fujian Holds National Day Reception

On September 27, Fujian Provincial Government hosted a reception in Fuzhou to celebrate the70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Over 290 guests from home and abroad, including the consular corps in Fujian, receivers of 2019 Fujian Honorary Citizenship, representatives of expat community, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas as well as officials from the provincial and municipal government attended the reception.

Vice Governor Guo Ningning addressed the audience. She highlighted Fujian’s transformative progress over the past seven decades since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and expressed appreciation for the support and participation of compatriots and international friends over the years. She said that President Xi’s blueprint of a new Fujian featuring dynamic mechanisms, upgraded industries, a prosperous people and a beautiful environment is well on track to become a reality, and called for further exchanges and cooperation with friends from home and abroad.

Julius Caesar Flores, Philippine Consul General in Xiamen, spoke on behalf of foreign guests. He congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and the achievements it has made. He noted the vital role Fujian plays in nurturing and enriching China-Philippine relations, and pledged to continue to tap the business, media, cultural, professionals, students and other sectors of Philippine and Chinese societies, to develop new friendships and form strong partnerships.
