On January 18, a 10-member delegation headed by Jocelyne Roy Vienneau, Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick of Canada, visited Fujian Foreign Affairs Office (FAO). Accompanied by Rachael Bedlington, Consul General of Canada in Guangzhou, the delegation had talks with officials from FAO, the Provincial Department of Education, and the Provincial Tourism Development Commission.

Vice President Chen Chuxin of Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries welcomed the delegation and updated them on Fujians economic and social development.

Lieutenant-Governor Vienneau extended her appreciation for Fujians sound climate, environment and infrastructure, and gave an introduction of New Brunswick and its cooperation with China.

Both sides agreed to advance cooperation on aquaculture, education and tourism, and identify possible projects by drawing on the similar natural resources and industrial structures of the two provinces.

New Brunswick is located in East Canada with an area of 73,400 square kilometers and over 750,000 residents. The richly endowed province boasts favorable geographical location and strengths in forestry, papermaking, fishery and mining, with tourism as the main pillar of its economy. Renowned for its higher education, New Brunswick has attracted over 2,000 Chinese students.
