Fujian (China) Week Boosts Fujian-Pennsylvania Cooperation
Fujian (China) Week hosted by Fujian FAO and Shishi City Government was presented to the public in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 29.
Counsellor Zhao Bin of the General Office of Fujian Provincial Government, Vice President Chen Chuxin of Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Shishi Mayor Huang Chunhui, Acting Secretary of State Robert Torres, and about 100 Fujian and Pennsylvanian entrepreneurs from sectors such as construction, energy, textile, machinery, telecommunication, aquaculture, and e-commerce attended the event.
Programs include the opening ceremony, business promotion and matchmaking, and photo exhibition of Fujian’s tourist attractions.
In his congratulatory letter to the event, Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania commends Fujian’s dedication to economic development, manufacturing, and international partnerships. He believes that the event will serve as a crucial foundation for future relationships between Fujian’s governments, companies and their counterparts in Pennsylvania.
At the opening ceremony, Counsellor Zhao Bin briefed the participants on Fujian’s latest economic, social, and industrial development, as well as preferential policies and opportunities for cooperation. Secretary Torres looked into the future of the friendly relationship and practical cooperation between the two sides.
During the business promotion and matchmaking, Mayor Huang Chunhui and five Fujian entrepreneurs gave presentations. Speakers from Philadelphia introduced the city’s business environment and offered guidance on investment in the city. Many companies identified their prospective cooperation partners.
During the event, Vice President Chen Chuxin and President Zhang Wenqin of Pennsylvania Fujian Economic and Culture Exchange Association signed an MoU on cooperation between the two associations, setting up an effective working mechanism for exchange between Fujian and Pennsylvania.
Since Fujian and Pennsylvania established sister relationship in October 2009, fruitful economic, tourism and people-to-people exchanges have been carried out. This edition of Fujian (China) Week further enhances exchanges and mutual understanding between the two sides, injecting new momentum to Fujian-Pennsylvania friendship and cooperation.
